Hi all,

I feel sooooooo bad due to not sharing this earlier, I told myself I would do it , I would share whatever would work for me, but then I forgot.. and now its aprox 18 months later already...

So, I just want to quickly say, that I had a proceedure 2 years ago - Melanocyte Transplantation Proceedure

I decided for it, becuase it was years since anything helped me (last thing which helped was UVB therapy, I got good results, around 50% repigmentation, but after first 6 months,  it just stopped repigmenting, stopped healing me.. nothing else helped me to repigment further. And I tried MANY things. And I tried for years!!

Due to being dark skinned, and having vitiligo on my face  of course I was very very determined to find something that would work.

In the end, I actually was browsing this very site, when I heard about Melanocyte Transplantation Proceedure , I didnt hear about it for the first time, but it was the first time that I was giving it serious thought.

After researching it I decided to go for it, and I am happy I did. Entire procedure cost me approx. 1000 pounds, so, a bit more in euros, but the results were wonderful and they stayed!

I am around 93% more repigmented than before the proceedure. My face now looks great.

And repigmentation stayed.

The only areas where it didnt work were eyebrows and eyelid and a small part on the nose.

The difference is huge.  I must say, i had a segmental type. So, I only had it on half of my face.

If you need any more details please send me an email.

It was doctor Mulekar , and he was very gracious, and he seemed very optimistic, telling me, they have wonderful results, he even told me that eyebrow and eyelids are often also repigmented, which in my case werent, but i guess they can be. So, yes, this is real, especially if you are dark skinned and it affects your face, my advice is to go for it . Before that I would advice the NB-UVB , .. but if it does not work, or it stops helping with continuing repigmentation, consider the proceedure.

Lastly, I must say, I believe what helped me in this journey was God - Heavenly Father, my faith in Jesus Christ. It was a spiritual journey, and , .. well ,

I am thankful for this procedure and am an exapmple of someone where the MT proceedure worked!

It is a proceedure where you are kept awake, and it is a bit painful , but it is not so long, and of course the benefits outweigh the momentary discomfort.

If you need any more details please send me an email/message.

  • I too had it done and results were good
  • I also wanted to have Melanocyte Transplantation for lips. I have vitiligo since five years till now no new spots. As my ayurvedic treatment time was of a too long duration (4 years more ) I can't wait that long wanted to have Melanocyte Transplantation next month. what do you think should I try NB-UVB first or better I should go directly with Transplantation

Do you have vitiligo on lips?

    • Instead of just NB-UVB alone UVB + pseudocatalase cream is preferable, because UVB mono-therapy requires more UV-radiation and hence it leads to erythema.

Check an attached picture from Pr Schallreuter's Rapid initiation of repigmentation in vitiligo with Dead Sea climatotherapy in combination with pseudocatalase (PC-KUS) 2002 report.

Definitely you should try it before the transplantation but you'd better don't expect much, because progress of this African-American woman is amazing.

      • Yes, I remember researching all about Pseudocatalase and Dead sea, Dr. Schallreuter..  as well. It does seem that there are good rsults,  The only issue is, that the entire thing is extremely extremely expensive. I dont remember exactly, but I think around $5000 just about covers the base costs if you want to join the group for the dead see experience. You have to stay there for at least a month, and each night you have to pay a minimum of 100$ / night , because the only option you have is staying in a 4, 5 star hotel. Then there are  a looot of extra costs, a plane ticket, extra payments for MANDATORY checks, the cream itself is not very cheap either,  etc etc.. so, it is a huge investment.

Of course even I would much rather try the dead sea experience first, but when I was deciding, well, simply I could not afford it.

Strangely, the procedure on the face is much more affordable. So, I went with that.

        • Accordingly to simonsvitiligoblog.com visit to Germany isn't so expensive:

          Consultation Fee: 350,00 Euro

          Blood Test: 160,000 Euro

          Pseudocatalase cream: 95.20 Euro

And then I’ve got my travel costs

          Return flight from Heathrow: £159.35

          Hotel in Greifswald, Germany: £120.05

Though it's still expensive for people from many countries. And visit to Dead Sea probably will hit most of us in the pocket.

Fortunately there's another way: everyone can buy a 311 nm UVB handheld and make pseudocatalase cream at home. Check this http://www.vitiligofriends.org/forum/topics/how-to-produce-100grams...

          • Yup, I remembr buying Pseudocatalase from ebay some years ago to go along with my nbUVB. There is some good theory behind that cream I guess..
            Thanks for sharing!

        • It looks treatment was so costly for me to afford presently I am taking ayurvedic treatment which cost me 1200$ for eight years. definitely not for me :(

  • Are the before and after pics gone? Cant find them?
