Just purchased MicroSkin!

Yesterday March 13, 2014 I went to Microskin's New York Office, i just wanted to share with everyone my experience.

1st of all I will address price as this seems to be a concern for anyone considering Microskin. Microskin has changed the way they operate in order to lower costs for their customers. A skin scan used to be required in order to get an accurate color match, this drove up costs. Well due to the experience of Microskin's staff and trial and error scans are no longer needed in most cases as the staff at Microskin can now manually add or subtract colors to get a good match.

Bottomline I got 5 bottles of microskin (she threw in an extra), sealing powder, microskin remover, two brushes, 5 sponges, and a dish to dip into when applying. My total price for this was $466.00! MUCH cheaper than I thought and a far cry from the $1000 price I have heard of from people in the past.

The color match was very good on my hands. It can take awhile to get the color right. The staff will apply, tweak the color, reapply, as many times as necessary and they came off as "perfectionists" to me and did not seem to be in a rush. There is definitely a learning curve to applying this, and it is very liquidy.

The durability is amazing thus far. I do not want to speak to soon, I've only had it for a day or two, but compared to the regular makeup I was wearing before Microskin is nothing short of amazing in its ability to STAY ON!. This is huge. We will see how tough this tough is this summer when i am working outside. I had the microskin applied around 3:30pm and when I woke up this morning after a night's sleep it still looked PERFECT on my hands...very encouraging.

It is pretty much waterproof, but i have not tested it outside of putting a little water on it. It does not rub off easily but a hard scrape against rough fabric can remove it and particles from the fabric can stick to it when this happens.

It can be a pain when applied to one's face over facial hair. i have a short beard t cover the vitiligo on my chin and microskin can take a little work to get out of my beard but the powder helps loosen it up and it can be combed out.

Don't want to write all day! overall it was worth it so far. The staff was VERY NICE and very helpful. They will work with you as far as tweaking your color as you tan or if you want to change anything. You can have samples shipped to you (you just pay shipping) you do not have to go all the way back to NYC or LA!

Feel free to message me and ask me any questions, I will keep everyone updated on how Microskin is working for me. Anyone in the upstate New York area that wants travel information message me or comment. Big Thank you to Nicole and the rest of the Microskin staff, I hope your after the sale service is as good as you claim!

  • I use Microskin as well to cover up.  My problem is that my Vitiligo is spreading and that's my main concern,  I wish there was a way to stop it from spreading.

  • So I have been using Microskin for about 6 months now. So far it is a big improvement over traditional makeup. The durability of Microskin is definitely much better, but on oily spots like the face you will have to put it on everyday. Microskin works pretty good on the legs and I can usually go a week without touching it. Hands are ok as well if you are careful.

It can be a hassle to put on sometimes and it does get sticky when you sweat or get it wet. oily spots like the nose are annoying. The outside of my nostrils become oily looking and I have to dab it with a cloth, of course this is worse during the summer.

I have ordered adjusted samples to match my summer skin that is darker from sun exposure. They cost $25 a piece and usually last about a month. I dont believe the price is too high if you use the sponge instead of the airbrush. The airbrush is very expensive and I have not used it yet. a 2 ounce bottle cost $100. It will last awhile...maybe 6 months possibly more depending on the extent of your Vit. the microseal powder is $50 and it is a necessity. it will last 2-3 months (for me). microskin is somewhat waterproof. cold water will not take it off, but it will make it less stable and you will not want to touch it or rub it when it is wet. Rain doesnt affect it much for example, but dishes/shower in hot water with soap will take it right off the hands (at least it gets me out of doing dishes! lol)

Bottomline: I am happy with Microskin. It i not a cure and has some negatives, but I believe it is the best option if you choose to cover your spots. Do not expect too much from it. It takes time to put on and it can be annoying on the nose, forehead, and any oily spots on your body. I do not blow my nose or scratch my nose at all througout the day which can be annoying if you have a stuffy nose or an itch! lol, but I deal with it.

    • I  went today to micro skin store to check my skin tone concealer and got a sample..I think the air brush method is easy to apply but the other manual application is quite tough to apply..

Two questions below for the users already used

      1. Can we use micro skin on the fingers and hand everyday?

      2. The hard part is using alcohol to clean it..Can we use alcohol everyday to clean the  concealer applied. Does using alcohol everyday effects vitiligo and makes it spread  more ?

      3. Can i clean concealer with alcohol and use protopic in the night ?

    • Thanks for the info.

Can you please send me some contact information?

      I live in Florida.

      • go to microskincenter.com They have an office in California and one in NYC. The initial visit will cost $400-$600. Mine was just under $500, I'm not sure if I got a deal or not I expected to pay much more, but they have taken some cost cutting measures. They are friendly and helpful over the phone as well. I recommend giving it a chance if you have the money, just don't expect too much. Hope this helps.

        • Can I do it remotely?  Exchanging pictures and samples?

  • Waste of money you'll hate it in about 2 years like me.
    • And the price is outrageously high. Has anyone looked into skin bleaching and then go for spray tans? Anyone know any info or doctors that do it?
    • It takes very tedious to put it on every mounrning like me. It'll eventually to to smear and become just a very annoying product. The airbrush will stop working and sometimes you'll be late to school or work it also gets very sticky
    • Why do you hate it Tyrann?
