New on here.

Just a message to say hello to everyone and hope Vitiligo is not getting you down too much! I've had it since my mid to late twenties...tried to nail it down in my mind exactly when but too many years have passed now. Started with a small patch under my lip and has progressed to everywhere to some degree. At first and for some years I found like most of you I expect hard to accept and why me, I think the hardest part of vitiligo is the unknown...how far and how fast will it progress and to where. Its almost as if you never completely get to grieve (a strong word I know but its the best way I can describe its affect, at least for me) as its in most cases spreading more and more so its the constant battle with change that I have found so difficult. But....I have learned even though I hate it to accept it. At first I didn't want to discuss it or talk about but as time goes on it does become the norm and it would almost feel strange to be without it. I have learned to use a few products quite succesfully and now I find myself celebrating when it spreads and evens out more!! I have huge respect for anyone going through the vitilgo battle.....and for all those that are struggling or new to it all, it does in my experience get easier as time goes on. You definitely get better at covering it up thats for sure if you're someone who finds it hard to show it off and once you find what works best for you (its not one size fits all as I've found) its more effective, so keep at it! I also have Hypothyroid to round it off nicely :) Good luck to you all Phil
