Im on my second week of treatment now and my patches are really red and sore. Has anyone else had phototherapy and is this normal?

  • Thank you Emma for the info
  • thanks I go in a full body machine as it covers more than 50% of me 3 times a week im doing 72 seconds at the moment still working the time upwards
  • Good to hear that Emma all the best, can you please tell me for how long do you do it on each spot and how many times a week
  • Ive been going for just over 2 months now still sore sometimes but i am starting to see the tiniest bits of pigment coming back so fingers crossed!
  • I am doing xtra laser treatment on my forehead, today is my second time(twice a week), dermatologist used 385 UVB light than 311 just a second. He told me to use protopic next day after the treatment. My spot is pink all these days since my first treatment last Friday. It is not sore. We will see.
  • Thanks for the info I have a UVB comb and administrating at home even I am having the same problem, have been doing it for 2 min as prescribed unfortunately the derm is arrogant and unapproachable, glad I joined this group, this thing has been haunting me
  • Decrease the exposure time.

It has to become pink with no sore.

Stop for a few days unti it recovers then restart with half exposure time.

If it doesn't become pink, increase 15s and wait until next day to see if it's got pink.

If so,  that's the right time.  If not, increase more 15s and do it again.
