Successful treatments?

Hi everyone,

We all see so many treatments/cures on the net but is anyone from our "community" had or is having any success with particular treatments?

Personally, i've tried a few. I was given a number of a retired GP in the UK, everyone that has been to him has had great success and he was personally recommended to me. I started to see him every 2 weeks for nearly a year then every 3 or 4 weeks. I got about 80% pigment back when i stopped going..

Why did i stop? The treatment was as follows: He would inject small amounts of liquid under my skin, so on one hand this would be around 20 insertions, now bear in mind it was wherever the patches were, then he would give a complete injection in one arm and give me different combinations of tablets to take home. These i would take, wait for an hr and then sit in front of a UV light..every other day.

Pros: it worked, had i carried on would have been 100% success

Cons: travelling 180 miles there and 180 miles back every few weeks

Not knowing what was in the injections or tablets

           Cost: £120 per visit

Weight gain (must have contained some sort of steroid)

Having soooo many injections at every visit

So it got to the point where i needed to think about the costs and possible side effects of this unknown treatment (he wouldn't tell anybody what in contained because he said that he was going to release it at some point).

I stopped about 3 years ago, and the vitiligo has gotten worse, mainly on my hands and is starting to spread fast.

Hence the question: Has anybody had any success with any treatments??

Regards

Vinny

  • Wow
  • I have heard through a friend of a friend that a man in our town stood up during a meeting and said that drinking alkaline water helped his vitiligo tremendously.  Based on that, my husband and I are looking into buying a counter top filter system for our kitchen sink to try and help our 3 year old son who was diagnosed about a year ago.  Right now we are supplementing his diet with vitamin b-complex & ginko biloba & applying pure coconut oil to his spots (when he lets us).  I'm not sure, but I think this might at least be slowing down the spreading because his first patches to appear haven't gotten much bigger & newer areas are much smaller & not so drastically white.

    • Hi Karen,

It's good to hear that you are seeing some progress. For how long have you been giving gingko to your son and what dosage?
      • Hi Karina,

We started back in mid April just adding some to his sippy cup.  We have 120 mg capsules & give him about 1/3 of 1 capsule over the course of a day.

    • Hi Karen,

An alternative medicine friend of mine had suggested the alkaline water to me many years ago, but also to detox the colon (natural balance) and then go to the next stage of detox - killing the parasites, etc in the colon (natural cleanse and then maestro - detoxing the liver and kidneys. If anything, at least my body will be in optimum condition to fight back or get the most out of any treatment, diet a pursue.

      • Vinny,

The combination of the two makes a lot of sense to me.  I am encouraged.

  • Hi Vinny,

Mine was not that successful story, bcoz Im not compliant with doctors advice. Actually I have been taking Unani medicine from hyderabad, the common things u need to follow is to reduce consumption of sour food, milk products, fermented and preserved food. Plss try to expose ur patches to early sunlight, it prevents patches from spreading and u can use coconut also. I heard a good feedback abt "Leucoskin" from my doctor, which is available in India, you can surely give it a try. Good luck Vinny. May god give us all strength and his blessings!!!!.

    • Thanks Sukrutha,

I know there is a cure for everything...the trick is trying to find it haha.

    • Aren't fermented foods good for your stomach though?  Can't see how these would harm vitiligo.

      • Hi James,

I was told by doctor that anything that harms stomach will increase ur vit, as per Ayurveda.
