Home Phototherapy Unit

I am considering buying a 3-sided unit. Having one at home would be more convenient. I would not have to go to the doctor twice a week for the phototherapy light box. Therefore, I would be saving time in addition to gas and wear and tire on my car.

But I am hesitant. Has anyone used a home phototherapy unit for vitiligo? If yes, what issues did/have you encountered? Any other comments or thoughts are welcome.

Thank you.

  • I have been using my home unit for a little over a year now. I completely understand where you are coming from going back and forth to Dermatologists office then having to wait til you are called.

I have the UVBiotek Multidirectional unit and I love it!    http://uvbiotek.com/the-multidirectional/

The people at UV Biotek are so helpful. My Vitiligo is slowly starting to repigment!

I work closely with my Dermatologist and he writes out the treatment plans for me.

Hope this info is helpful. Best Wishes!

    • Yes, your input is helpful, Sue. It is wonderful that the vitiligo is starting to repigment.                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Much thanks.

      • Marilyn, I don't know if you have Vitiligo on your face or neck, but I had XTRAC laser done on my face and it cleared 95%. I went to my Derm's office 2x a week for about 5 months until fully repigmented.

However, I have about 30% on other areas of my body so I am currently working on that.

  • I have been using one since November and have encountered no problems. I follow my doctors guidelines relative to how many times a week and increasing the minutes.  I, too, had been going twice a week for over 2 years to the derm office and felt half of my time was spent in the waiting room.  If you decide to do it, follow your doctors instructions.  Good luck.

    • I appreciate you sharing and the advice.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Thank you, Ann.
