Preventing Re-Pigmentation

I'm roughly 75% depigmented and going through depigmentation; but starting to have trouble with re-pigmentation spots. Has anyone else gone through this? Any suggestions on how to avoid/eliminate them?

  • Hi, Ish -

It seems you've been going through the depigmentation process for years now.  Is that correct?  If yes, then there

is something wrong with the treatment regimen. Tell me the dosage you are on and if you are using sunscreen faithfully.

    Kindest regards,

    Jackie

    • Hi Jackie,

Lovely to hear from you- I've been using 40% Monobenzone for a couple of years now and am almost completely depigmented. I use a high SPF and camouflage makeup with SPF but went without during a short break, abroad.

I'll be seeing my dermatologist in August- so hopefully we can discuss the cluster of re-pigmented spots that occurred when I came back from vacation. Fortunately, they have disappeared again- I use the cream religiously. Sadly,my dermatologist is unable to prescribe a higher concentration of Monobenzone.

Thank you to everyone for your helpful advice and input. I appreciate it. Best wishes with your own depigmentation journeys.

      Ish xXx
      • So good to hear from you, too!  You must be so glad this long journey is almost over.   I'm so happy for you.

        Kindest regards,

        Jackie

  • Your body wants to repigment because being pigmented is a natural state.  You will need to continue depigmentation treatments.

  • Please avoid exposure to sun as much as you can

  • Yes- the only certainty is the uncertainty...Ironic and definitely unpredictable!
  • Isn't it ironic?? You try to depigment, and repigmentation comes! Vitiligo is so unpredictable!
