Vitiligo Fading

Hello from Northern California. My vitiligo is fading on my back. I am thankful! Has anyone experienced fading? I totally changed my diet, cut out all sugar, soda, coffee, and caffinated tea. I try to eat vegetables for at least two meals a day. I also eat plain oatmeal every morning. Has anyone experienced discomfort with their vitiligo? I occasionally have discomfort. No itching just mild pain. The email sites don't mention pain. Is there anyone else that has discomfort----physical pain? Nancy fron Northern California

  • hi Nancy

well done that is great news.  I am interested to know if you take cows milk or other milk with your oatmeal.

It is interesting to note the nutrient profile of oatmeal, perhaps the vitamins B and E are assisting with repigmentation.  I have noticed some regimentation lately since I added almond milk to my diet which is high in Vit E.  Also i got big batches of vitiligo when I started gluten free diet. Many people say it helps repig to be gluten free but  for me is opposite, can only think it's because wheat has vitamin B and E.

oatmeal gives me such a belly ache tho!  I don't really have pain with vitiligo but do sometimes notice a 'pressure' feeling if that makes sense??

    • Thank you for responding. I have been BAD and not following the diet. I notice my spots are getting larger. Not more of them they are just getting bigger. Back on the diet for me. Oh, yeck!
  • Where are the patches?

    Near the joints?

There is a link between arthritis (joint inflammation) and vitiligo.

That's the only discomfort that I've heard regarding vitiligo.

    • My vitiligo is across my back at my shoulder blades, two spots down at my waist and three spots under a breast
