About Me:

I'm very curious about people's different experiences with vitiligo. I am 57 and had no prior family history of vitiligo. It seems to have been the result of a severely traumatic period of stress in my life, or, possibly as a reaction to some medication. There really doesn't seem to be any way of knowing. I guess it could have been something else like external chemical exposure or vitamin deficiencies, but I kind of doubt that. My instinct leads me to believe it was an extreme traumatic stress, the kind which I had never experienced before. I was in the military for several years, and did not have a sheltered life. I participated in many high adrenaline sports and was initially in excellent health all my life, until this happened at about 50 years old. I am of Mediterranean ancestry, so the vitilgo on my legs and arms, and other areas is very obvious in the summer, and less so in the winter. But like many here, it is a source of concern and a certain amount of anxiety, especially since I am single. (Full custody father of two teens). I'm interested in regenerative possibilities, perhaps with the aid of diet and vitamin and mineral supplements? I see people here have had mixed and highly individual experiences. Nevertheless, it is good to be among people who all have the same challenge.
