  • Hi Nicki, it is very nice to meet you!  I am not a nurse, but I work for a company that specializes in phototherapy for vitiligo and psoriasis.  I can be a resource for anyone that is seeking information about this type of therapy, so if you have any questions that I can help you with, just let me know!  We have access to a lot of great info, and if i don't know the answer to your question then I will find it for you!  :)   Traci

  • You have a beautiful daughter, Give her all the love and support that you can, I also have vitiligo i was a grown man 0f 24 when it started and it was devastating to me and i can tell you that its 100 percent worse on a young kid. My nephew started getting vitiligo when he was 4 by seven it was all over his face and body, It broke my heart seeing him that way and cried when he would ask his mother if she could take make it go away. Be strong were all here vfor you.

  • Hello :) && thankss.
  • My daughter just turned 8 and will have Vitiligo for 1 year in May.

    She is almost completely white, the spread has not stopped even with the use of Protopic.

    She was scheduled for a light treatment, but we couldnt afford it. $40 per week for 1 year.

    She is also still outgoing, and doesnt let this stop her =)

  • Hi Nicki,

    My little girl is going to be nine this spring.  She was diag with Vit that started as a tiny spot on her abdomen almost 2 years ago.. It has spread to most of her body since then.  We use Protopic and Clobetasol on her and we see repig here and there but it is definitely a slow process..  We do what we can and she so far is still a confident kid and it doesn't bother her too much when other kids ask her about it.  She has not had any bad experiences with other kids yet, which is of course my fear, and that may come but we will deal with it.  She knows how lucky she is and that there are a lot of other kids out there who have serious medical problems.  She plays softball and does gymnastics and stuff and is very outgoing.  It is so nice to have this site and sites like it to talk with other parents who have the same fears about what our kids go through.  Welcome to the site!! :)  Hope you have a wonderful holiday!!  Your little girl is simply gorgeous!

  • u are very prety nicky

  • Hi Nicki, My 10 year old son was also just recently diagnosed too. We are trying Protopic. He is lucky that even though he has it primarily on his face and his lower chin/upper neck area that most people do not really even notice it yet. It appears to be progressing though so we'll see how long it goes un-noticed. It can be hard, Dylan is handling a lot right now...and I don't want him to feel pressured or stressed out about it. Once he found out the diagnosis the vitiligo spread to cover the space under his chin. I really do think that it spread all of a sudden like that because of the news that he had it for sure, and all of the worries that come along with hearing that there's no cure. His perspective is rweally good most of the time acctually. I am amazed with how he took the news and he seems to be processing it well. I think that it's good for all of our kids to realize that they aren't alone, even if the other kids that have it too aren't in thier school, they are out there and they are not the only ones growing up with Vitiligo! :-)
