Emotional causes and happiness

I was talking to my friend Desta,  who has been studying vitiligo for 2 decades, and he confirmed what we all know: Emotional issues play a big role in vitiligo.

He told me that a 7 year old girl started her vitiligo one week after returning from Disney World.  Her mother approached him in a Vitiligo Seminary and asked him about the possible cause.  He asked the mother if the girl was affraid of a roller coaster.  The mother started crying...   Later on her husband told him that they forced her to "overcome" her fear in a roller coaster ride...

He also told me that the following feelings are very harmful for vitiligo sufferers.  Please see below:

1- If you are a person who is feeling completely out of place, you feel that you are no one in the group or you have no sense of belonging, you may as well develop vitiligo. The principle knowledge of oneness of mankind helps us all to feel part of this big entity rather than feeling outside the group.

2- If you are a ” yes-but” person and are never satisfied with what you have, how you look or what you are. Moreover, you feel that there is lack of joy in your life, then you are another candidate for vitiligo.

We know it's not easy, but we must try to use the emotional issues in favor of ourselves.  So we have to try to find real happiness.  I found these 18 interesting tips about what happy people do, so that I would like to share with you:

1. They never mind what other people think of them.
2. They don’t need others’ compliments to proof their achievements.
3. They don’t rely on other people or materialistic stuff for happiness.
4. They don’t hold on to their past.
5. They never magnify the bad things in people.
6. They don’t think crying is bad.
7. They never lie about their feelings to anyone including themselves.
8. They never need to be the center of attention.
9. They don’t compare themselves to others.
10. They aren’t afraid to lose.
11. They don’t immerse themselves in a depressing atmosphere.
12. They don’t expect too much from external stuff.
13. They don’t mind things are not in their control.
14. They don’t think they seem to lack anything.
15. They don’t think smiling or laughing is a sign of not being serious.
16. They never take things for granted.
17. They don’t mind sharing what they have with others.
18. They don’t worry too much about the future.

  • Thank you for sharing the thoughts. Many causes may lead to vitiligo, some are from DNA, sunburn, nutrition etc, emotion is surely one of them. We need to manage our stress, constantly adjust our balance.balance.
  • Honestly I'm not sure about it, my 4 years old is a very happy and very confident kid, she has no stress in her life, and she has vitiligo.

    • Yes I know all that, I'm working with kids, and yes they are human and they can be under stress. All I am saying is in my daughter case, there is nothing happened in her life to put her in a stress situation, we did not moved, nobody died, she sleeps well, her routine is the same...
I read few books, to me in her case the only think I see is a physical inner trigger, I think the key is nutritionnal, not emotional.
Right now, I am reading the book The immune system recovery plan from Susan Blum. It's vert interesting, but not so easy to follow with a 4 yrs old....
    • You are right.  That's just one possible cause.  Your kid's root cause is probably another one.  Please see the following discussion:

      http://www.vitiligofriends.org/forum/topics/vitiligo-cure-is-a-puzz...

Anyway,  even though your kid is happy,  double check if  # 1 applies:

1- If you are a person who is feeling completely out of place, you feel that you are no one in the group or you have no sense of belonging, you may as well develop vitiligo.

I  know it's hard to check for a 4 year old kid...

      • @ Annie Children can have different type of stress which may trigg there vitligo, may be if they lost there grand parent, lost beloved cat or toy some times they can have a bad dream in a period that they can't sleep well...they can stress if parents quarreling or separate or moved to other house.

Mainly We develop vitiligo coz we are genetically predisposed to vit, there are many out there who has the same gene like us but never develop vit coz they haven`t come to trigger.

The first trigger is the one which starts:- I was in vitiligo conference here is what I heard one incident in  India some factory workers were affected by vitiligo even though India has bigger percentage of vit it was not normal many develop vit at the same period leter on they find out that they were exposed to some phnolic chemical with out potecting there hand.

Only those who are genetically predisposed develop vitiligo men others nothing...the most interesting in this situation is THEY TOUCH THE CHEMICCAL BY THERE HAND BUT THEY DEVELOP GENERAL VITILIGO LETER IN THERE LIFE GOT VIT ON DIFFERENT PART OF BODY LIKE FACE NECK AND PRIVATE PART.

Whatch out never come clouse to bad depigmenting Chemicals.

  • youre basically telling a vitiligo patient to change his thoughts & personality. its a very hard thing to do. especially as you get older....... all 18 things are true for me, i do them all!

  • Yes, they do.    The story about the roller coaster made me rethink about life...
