About Me:

I am 51 years old. I have had Vitiligo since age 13. I have recently gone through menopause and my Vitiligo has increased covering approximately 75% of my body. I have been directed to this site by a friend for support and hopefully answers and opinions of others that understand my struggle. I have recently started UVB light therapy hoping for the best.

    I used UVB on my face only.  My vitiligo is most noticeable there. I noticed that the side of my face benefited most and I got some color back on both sides...starting with small spots and then filled in.  My chin and around my lips didn't show much new pigment and look about the same as when I started.  As far as redness, when I did the treatment, the area around my nose, lips, and my chin used to get red and sometimes would feel a little sunburned.  My dermatologist said my skin was probably more sensitive in those areas.

    Click on Forum and there is a little add button at the top to start a new discussion topic for all members. I tried UVB for about a year and had some limited success. I had pigment return on parts of my face but other areas didn't change. I think everyone responds to treatments differently.

    Thank You. Is there a way that I can post that goes to all members? I would like to know if anyone else has tried the UVB phototherapy treatments with any success?
