About Me:

I'm a mom of a wonderful 11 year old son who has Vitiligo. He also has other conditions like tourette's, ADHD, and Asperger's syndrome. And now this. We will add Vitiligo to the never ending list of afflications for him. I am determined to become as educated as possible in order to help my son. My son's Vitiligo started as mysterious white patches under one armpit possibly as young as age 8.. As of the summer 2013 the Vitiligo is spreading all over various parts of his body, and now has spread to his face. As of the end of summer 2013 he has a white "superhero" mask around his eyes. He is troubled by the spots when he sees them after a shower, but otherwise does not seem bothered by them. Truthfully enough, I am more bothered by the fact that I cannot help him, or take this away. I am not here to make anyone upset, but I have been very sad now that the Vitiligo is spreading onto his face. If anyone out there has any advice for treatment, please message me. I am feeling very discouraged and helpless right now. Thank-you for your understanding and compassion. <3

    Even though I knew it was Vitiligo, we finally saw the dermatologist yesterday and have confirmation of Vitiligo. My son turned 11 this past week. Now starts a new chapter...we will try the protopic cream that was recommended by the doctor...I hope it at least helps. Feeling sad.

    Thank you!  I hope that your son will be ok with his Vitiligo one day.  I had the Vitiligo eyes myself.  I've had Vit now for 20 years!  Been a journey!  Take care!
